The Lesson I taught for class was centered around the French and Indian War. Even though the Indian tribes played a very important role in the war and its outcome they were barely mentioned within the textbook. The Iroquois were specifically named within the text, but background information and specifics were left out. For instance, the book failed to acknowledge why the Iroquois tribe even sided with the British. Other tribes were not even mentioned and the use of an outside source would be needed to teach this lesson in school.
Today there is still a continued disavowal of the land theft and genocide placed upon the First peoples. Most of Eve Tuck's speech was centered on urban education and the dangers many students face in their education. For instance, she focused on the root of education problems and how this affects students. One example, is that people are disempowered. This has to do with the lack of responsibility towards the First peoples.

Satire is a heavy influence in todays news because so many people want to be entertained when listening to world events. The majority of people think the news is too sad and want to listen to something more sarcastic. However, satire can also be a negative influence because usually the full story isnt being given. These news stations tend to rely more on trying to be funny and adding in news to make it satire.
